Track Sectors
Flat-out blast into the Rettifilo chicane — a big stop that is consistently the most significant overtaking zone on the calendar.
Through the Curva Grande, Variante della Roggia and the twin Lesmos — a rhythm sector where cars run lower downforce than anywhere else.
The Variante Ascari chicane and the long right-hand Parabolica onto the main straight — lap time lives in that final apex.
About Nazionale Monza
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is the temple of speed. Built in 1922, it is the third-oldest circuit still in use and has hosted every Italian Grand Prix bar one since the F1 World Championship began in 1950. Cars run the lowest downforce levels of the season here, chasing top speeds beyond 360 km/h. Slipstream battles into the Rettifilo chicane and the Parabolica decide the result, and the abandoned banked oval still looms over the modern layout.
A five-car slipstream battle saw Peter Gethin pip Ronnie Peterson by 0.01s — the closest official Formula 1 finish ever. The lead changed hands repeatedly into the Parabolica on the final lap.
In a wet race for Toro Rosso, 21-year-old Sebastian Vettel took pole and led every lap to become the youngest-ever F1 race winner at the time — and Toro Rosso's only victory.
A Hamilton penalty and a Leclerc red-flag crash flipped the order. Pierre Gasly emerged from the chaos to win his first F1 race for AlphaTauri — the team's first victory and one of the unlikeliest of the modern era.
