Track Sectors
The Senna S — a fast downhill left-right combination immediately after the pit straight — sets up the race's main overtaking zone.
Down through the Descida do Lago, Ferradura and Laranja — a flowing mid-section in the natural bowl of the circuit.
Through Juncão, then the long uphill blast past the pits — the climb gives slipstreams genuine bite onto the main straight.
About José Carlos Pace
The Autódromo José Carlos Pace — Interlagos to everyone — is anti-clockwise, just 4.3 kilometres long, built into a natural bowl south of São Paulo. Its elevation drop from the pit straight to the lake-side infield and the climb back makes the slipstream from the final corner Juncão into Turn 1 lethally effective. Subtropical storm systems make a high proportion of recent Brazilian Grands Prix wet — and the venue consistently produces drama.
Felipe Massa won the race in Brazil and looked to have won the title — until Hamilton passed Glock at the penultimate corner of the final lap to take fifth and the championship by a single point.
Spun on lap one and damaged, Sebastian Vettel needed sixth to clinch his third title against Alonso. He fought through to it in mixed conditions, with Webber controlling the front.
Starting 17th after a Q2 elimination, Max Verstappen carved through a treacherous wet race to win with a time-stopping mid-stint stretch. The performance effectively wrapped up his fourth world title.
