How do I play Launch Control?

Stage the car, then watch the five start lights illuminate. The instant they all go out, tap (or press space) as fast as you can — that's your reaction time. You then accelerate down the strip: for each of the eight gears a tachometer needle sweeps up, and you tap to upshift inside the green band near the redline. Your total time is your reaction plus the strip, so a sharp launch and clean shifts both count.

What is a jump start?

Tapping before all five lights go out is a jump start, exactly like in Formula 1. The attempt is voided with a drive-through penalty — wait for the lights to go dark before you go.

How is my time scored?

Lower is better. Your total is your reaction time plus a fixed strip time plus small penalties for each shift that misses the ideal point — shifting early lugs the engine, shifting late bounces the rev limiter. A perfect launch with eight dead-on shifts is the fastest possible run.

Do I need an account to play?

No. Launch Control is free with no login required, and your best time is saved locally on your device. A free Pitbrain account adds your run to today's leaderboard and tracks your personal best over time.

Can I play more than once?

Yes — race as many times as you like and chase your best time. The leaderboard resets daily, so each day is a fresh shot at the top spot.

Tips for a better score

Watch the lights, not the clock — the hold before lights out is deliberately random.
A human reaction under 200ms is very good; under 150ms usually means you anticipated.
Shift on the indicator rather than by sound; early shifts cost more than late ones.
